is it right when an police officer said Credit report is not a document that is used to report identity theft?

I want to report the identity theft based on my credit report. But the police officer of Westminster Police Department in California said that she can not take my report because credit report is not a document for filing a report. Is it correct?

He CAN take your report WITHOUT the credit report. The fact you walked in and CLAIMED you were a victim is all they need to take a report of ANY crime. Without additional evidence, the report will be filed and ignored, but it CAN be taken.

No the officer is a moron,A credit report is a main way people find out there credit has been tampered with. One of the few ways actually. It is evidence.
