Is someone with bad credit safe from identity theft?
Meaning, I know someone who says that society is now making a big deal over it and that it will never happen to him, because he already has bad credit, mostly due to his own choices anyway, and that the best way to be safe from identity theft is to already have bad credit.
How true is that?

If he has a bank account, it can still be raided by hackers.
It could also put his social security account at risk.
Nope. There's always ways for someone with bad credit to get a little more credit, or spend more money.
And a crook doesn't care if he makes someone's bad credit even worse…
(IN other words, they don't research someone's credit history FIRST – they gather the info first – and then make the most of it)
First off I would never suggest someone get bad credit to prevent identity theft and yes everyone can be impacted by identity theft no matter what your credit rating is. Here is a link to a credit card comparison site that has articles on credit, including identity theft and links to getting a truly free credit report and applying for credit cards online. http://www.CreditCardWave.com
